• The proposed works concern Lime tree (L1) located in the far left hand corner of the rear garden of the property 14 Ashfield drive, Macclesfield. It is also in close proximity with a property on the end of Huxley close (Pictured from the dead end of this road as well as from the garden that it is located in). The proposed works compromise a third cyclical crown reduction (Roughly 2-2.5 metres taken off the outer branches), crown thinning and a crown lifting of approximately 3-4 metres above ground level. The lime tree has been previously managed through periodic crown reductions and the proposed works are intended to maintain the established crown dimensions and management regime rather than significantly alter the trees appearance. The reduction will lessen end-weight on extended lateral branches, helping to reduce mechanical stress and maintain a balanced crown structure. Selective crown thinning and dead wooding (20%) will improve light penetration and air movement throughout the canopy, reduce storm damage and the chance of any dead wood falling naturally (Posing a risk of injury to the applicant and neighbours whilst in their gardens) all while retaining the trees natural form. Crown lifting to 3-4 metres will provide improved clearance beneath the canopy and reduce conflict with adjacent land use. It will also tidy up the tree aesthetically. The proposed works represent good arboricultural practice and are intended to maintain the tree in a safe, sustainable condition while preserving its long term amenity value.

Himalayan Birch group - Reduce the canopy in height by 40% and prune side limbs by 1-1.25 metres to shape. Prunus Amanogawa - Reduce in height by 2 metres and shorten the side limbs to balance the width and shape of the tree. Remove selected low limbs off the Purple Maple if required. Himalayan Birch - 1. Reduce in height to 60cm below the level of the ridge tile. Reduce the sides hard back by 1-1.25 metres. Ensure the property at the rear is cleared by 1 metre. Multi stemmed Cypress - fell to ground level or Trim the longer lateral growth on the tree by up to 45cm.

Specification: Reduce eastern lateral spread by 0.5-1m back to suitable growth points and ensuring greenery remains. Reason: The tree’s lateral growth is encroaching over the applicant’s property. The proposed works are limited to a minor reduction to manage encroachment and maintain appropriate clearance, while retaining the tree’s overall form and contribution to local amenity. The extent of pruning has been specified to ensure the works remain proportionate and in accordance with good arboricultural practice.

• 1. Large Cypress at the front of the property reduce in height by 6 metres. Reason – The tree has a heavily multi stemmed formation which could predispose it to structural failure. (Smaller limbs in the crown have already failed). The reduction is aimed at reducing the risk of failure and a phased removal of the tree in the longer term. The client is keen to establish another tree in its place if possible. 2. Medium Cypress at the front of the property (by the Oak tree) Sectional dismantle to ground level. Reason – The tree is competing with a nicely developing Oak tree which will be a much nicer specimen in the longer term.

• This is a weeping ash tree that I feel requires removal or work to straighten (if removal is not appropriate) it appears collapsed and has been in this state since moving into the property. It stretches across half of the width of the garden causing obstruction. I would ideally like to remove this tree (I can do this myself) should I be granted permission.

• The tree species is difficult to identify-the gardener thinks it is an Oak, but we saw it in winter and the canopy looks more Beech like. It has significant damage to one stem-probably from a fire, and it has a large amount of squirrel damage to the branches. It is growing underneath the canopy of several other large deciduous and pine trees. It has two codominant stems. We want to fell the tree to a low stump.
