- PendingHornbeam - Reduce height and circumference. The tree currently stands taller than our house which is, approximately, 13 meters high, the approximate height of the tree stands around 15 to 16 meters. (please see attached photograph). At its widest point (the middle and lower branches) it spans approximately 14 meters. If the requested reduction was granted then the tree would have a final height of approximately 12.5 meters and a final, maximum, span of just under 12 meters. We would therefore request a 40% crown reduction, taking approximately a 16% reduction from the widest and tallest branches with the smaller branches having less of a reduction to ensure the tree holds its shape but moves away from our house and boundary fences.2 Elizabeth Gardens Kintbury Hungerford RG17 9TBReceived 11 Oct 2026Trees26/02223/TPW4.27 km from centreWest Berkshire council

- PendingThe silver birch is approx 15m tall. The top 50% is dead including the main trunk. The tree has been crowded out and starved of water and light for some years. The single remaining main live branch grows out north-west at an angle. This is now growing over the end of the driveway so presents a future risk to people/cars below. We have consulted an arborist/surgeon (James at Higgins Tree and Land Management). He previously did a fantastic job on a nearby yew on same boundary. He recommends removal of birch. Reduction work has already been applied for adjacent Yew which in on next door property, 48B High Street. (T1 on plan: application no: 26/02074/TPC refers.) This tree is currently causing overall light deprivation to all nearby trees as well as cottage. The adjacent trees (copper beech, beech, hornbeam) were planted as a mixed hedge by looks of it when houses built and were not tended when young so have now all outgrown their space.48C High Street Kintbury Hungerford RG17 9TNReceived 04 Oct 2026Trees26/02165/TPC4.82 km from centreWest Berkshire council

- Pending1) The yew is around 40' high and located on the southern boundary of 48B High Street Kintbury adjacent to northern boundary of 3 Wallingtons Road. The Kintbury Conservation Area runs along this boundary. It increasingly blocks light from the cottage below (1 Wallingtons Road) and they have politely requested for it to be reduced in height and width. We have received advice about extent of crown reduction from a arborist/tree surgeon (Higgins Land and Trees of Newbury). The tree is is approx 15m high and 9m across, It consists of many small branches of between 5-8cms diameter radiating out from the trunk. It had been pruned before we bought the property (in 2012) and has not been touched since. We would propose to reduce crown by 1.5m-2m from each side of the crown and 2.5-3m from the uppermost part including the central trunk thus preserving an aesthetically pleasing finish similar to existing but more compact. The finished overall height will be approx 12m.48B High Street Kintbury Hungerford RG17 9TNReceived 23 Sept 2026Trees26/02074/TPC4.8 km from centreWest Berkshire council

- ApprovedWe need to remove a small hawthorn tree, which is part of a hawthorn hedge, in order to provide access for small plant equipment from the road onto our property to replace our non-compliant septic tank with a sewage treatment plant ahead of selling the property. We will also need to remove a small section of the hawthorn hedge, but that will be replaced once the work is completed. The diameter of the tree stem is 67 cm. We are hoping to start the work early June 2026.Sextons Cottage Church Lane Speen Newbury RG14 1SAReceived 06 May 2026Decided 08 Jun 2026Trees26/00992/TPC4.3 km from centreWest Berkshire council
